Cairn Shiel Covid-19 Update
We would like to reassure our visitors that on current advice we are not planning to close Cairn Shiel due to Covid-19. Our main priority is to ensure the safety and care of our customers. We will maintain our high standards of cleanliness and implement extra anti-bacterial cleaning between guests. We may ask guests to arrive a little later than normal to allow our housekeeper to carry this out.
We will of course continue to monitor official advice and update our website as necessary. As per our cancellation policy, which can be viewed on the availability page, we expect guests to take out travel insurance to cover any unexpected cancellations. It is essential that you read your policy wording carefully as some policies may not cover claims relating to pandemics such as the Coronavirus. If in doubt, please contact your travel insurer for further information.
Cairn Shiel is a modern bungalow which stands in a private and prime location within the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve, which is renowned for its variety of wildlife, magnificent scenery and mountain trails; an ideal base for a variety of outdoor activities, wildlife and landscape photography, touring the North West Highlands, or simply relaxing in majestic surroundings.
The house has commanding views on all sides, including two of Scotland's greatest mountains; Beinn Eighe and Slioch, with Liathach, Beinn Alligin and the Torridon Mountains close by.
Pine Martens visit the house regularly (especially if you feed them!) and deer and eagles are often seen. Click here for link to Cairn Shiel wildlife photography policy.
The house is a short distance from Torridon, Loch Maree, and the numerous sandy beaches and bays around Gairloch, Red Point and Torridon.
The area's attractions include: guided walking, cycling, climbing, and sea kayaking trips; whale-watching trips; salmon, trout, pike and sea fishing; bird-watching; falconry courses; pony trekking; golf course; swimming pool; boat trips to view Viking graves on Loch Maree; bike hire; Inverewe Garden (National Trust) and Attadale Gardens.
Bookings include internet and electricity.
Will and Sue Snow took over Cairn Shiel in March 2016 and look forward to welcoming both new guests and those who have stayed many times before.
Will is a qualified Summer and Winter Mountain Leader, Mountain Bike Leader, and works as an Outdoor Guide. He may be available for guided walks or cycling trips during your stay. Please contact us for further details.
